InterSystems has corrected an issue that can cause InterSystems IRIS® and Caché to not take advantage of large pages for shared memory on Windows, even though these products report that large pages are allocated. This can have detrimental effects on system performance.

The issue results from a change in Windows 10 that requires modification of InterSystems IRIS® and Caché. Note that this issue also affects all InterSystems products that are based on InterSystems IRIS® or Caché. The issue occurs on the following versions of Windows:

Windows 10 (version 1703 and above)

            Windows 11

            Windows Server 2019

            Windows Server 2022

Windows Server 2016 is not impacted.

For reference, the correction for this issue is identified as RJF533. This correction will be included in all future InterSystems IRIS® and Caché distributions. The correction is also available as an Ad hoc distribution for supported product versions.

InterSystems recommends the following to avoid potentially severe system performance degradation:

  • For systems using large pages, defer upgrading to an impacted Windows version until implementing the correction.
  • For systems already running an impacted Windows version and using large pages, implement the correction prior to any planned increase in system load.

InterSystems generally recommends the use of large pages in order to improve performance.  More information is available in the documentation sections Configuring Large Pages on Windows and memlock.

If you have any questions regarding this alert or need an Ad hoc distribution with the correction, please contact the Worldwide Response Center.

I have  a SQL query that I want to run against MS SQL from cache ensemble using the SQL outbound adapter. If I run this query direct from MS SQL Studio it take about 7 seconds MAX and returns about half a million rows. The row only contains one column it is a number all same size and if I run this query in the production in ensemble it takes for ever the production finishes without getting the response back. The same query run in cache outside the ensemble environment writing results to a file it returns results taking about 3minutes to complete. But if I load the results into  a list or

November 19, 2021 - Advisory: Apache Web Server provided with InterSystems kits – Vulnerability reports

InterSystems kits include an Apache web server, which provides a convenient way for customers to interact with the Caché/IRIS Management Portal without needing to install an external web server; however, this web server should never be used for production instances, and customers must install a web server that fits their specific needs and security/risk requirements.

For all docker versions we have direct download links.

Like on our repository or on docker hub :

However, there is no direct link to download the installable (non docker) versions.

I propose you these two scripts to solve this need, the first one is with the wget command, the other one in curl.

Wget :

wget --delete-after --keep-session-cookies --save-cookies cookies.txt \
--post-data='UserName=<Your Login>&Password=<Your password>' \
'https://login.intersystems.com/login/SSO.UI.Login.cls?referrer=https%253A//wrc.intersystems.com/wrc/login.csp'

wget --load-cookies cookies.txt --content-disposition \
https://wrc.intersystems.com/wrc/WRC.StreamServer.cls?FILE=/wrc/Live/ServerKits/IRIS-2020.1.1.408.0-win_x64.exe

cUrl :

curl -L -c cookies.txt -d "UserName=<Your Login>&Password=<Your password>" https://login.intersystems.com/login/SSO.UI.Login.cls?referrer=https%253A//wrc.intersystems.com/wrc/login.csp

October 26, 2021 – Alert: Missing Locks after ECP Database Server Restart or Failover

InterSystems has corrected a defect that can violate application locking guarantees in a distributed cache cluster (ECP configuration), which can lead to application integrity issues. This defect affects:

  • All major releases and maintenance versions of InterSystems IRIS and InterSystems IRIS for Health, starting with 2020.1.0

The defect can only occur when an application server successfully performs ECP recovery after a restart or failover of the data server, as follows:

  • If processes running on the application server hold more than 255 total locks on databases hosted on the data server at the time of the restart or failover, some of these locks may not be recorded in the data server’s lock table.
  • Because the data server manages the distribution of locks across the cluster, this makes it possible for a process on another application server or the data server itself to concurrently acquire a lock that conflicts with one of the locks held by the application server, which can lead to application integrity issues.

For more information on locking and concurrency, see Locking and Concurrency Control.

The correction for this defect is identified as SML2930 and will be included in all future product releases, including InterSystems IRIS and InterSystems IRIS for Health 2020.1.2 and 2021.1.1. It is also available via Ad hoc distribution from the InterSystems Worldwide Response Center (WRC).

Note to HealthShare Customers

Although the HealthShare family of products does not make direct use of distributed cache clusters, HealthShare does support using them to access data on a separate instance of HealthShare. Customers making use of this feature will need to review their configurations to determine whether they could be impacted by this defect.

March 23, 2021 – Alert: Potential Data Integrity Issue with Mirror Dejournaling

InterSystems has corrected a defect that can cause data inconsistency issues on non-primary mirror members in extremely rare circumstances. This defect affects all released versions of InterSystems products.

If the defect occurs, it happens silently during normal operation on a mirrored system. The result of this defect is that a mirror member fails to dejournal a subset of journal records, which then leads to data inconsistency across mirror members. This affects both failover and async members. Although this defect is very unlikely to be encountered, InterSystems recommends that all customers using mirroring obtain the corrections and verify the consistency of mirrored databases with DataCheck. For more details on the specific circumstances that can trigger the defect and steps to minimize the risk of encountering it, please contact the Worldwide Response Center (WRC).

The corrections for this defect are identified as SML2898, HYY2434, and HYY2435 and will be included in all future product releases, including Caché and Ensemble 2018.1.5 and InterSystems IRIS and InterSystems IRIS for Health 2019.1.2 and 2020.1.1. The corrections are also available via Ad hoc distribution from the InterSystems Worldwide Response Center (WRC).

If you have any questions regarding this alert, please contact the Worldwide Response Center.

Hi, guys,

I'm working on zen report to display an examination report for a client.

They stored order information in several tables. Examination findings and diagnosis were recorded in a html page and codes of the page was stored in another table. We need to put them together in one single report.

So far we can only read the html codes from that table  which is a whole page since it start from label <html> and have <header>. We know that if we are using javascript we can display the page by assigning the codes to innerHtml property of an iframe object.

Hi,

somehow my installation on win10 canceled during finish. "Installation of Caché finished" showed up for 20 minutes and canceled with an error I didn't saved.

Every file and service was installed but never registered as successfull installation. Now I try to reinstall it but the installer shows me everytime "Another installation is already in progress. Please finish the second installation first".

The unfinished installation is broken. I can't startup Caché from launcher. So I deleted everything in c:/intersystems

Things I already tried:

InterSystems has corrected a defect that can lead to missing resource data in FHIR search results.

This problem exists for:

  • HealthShare Unified Care Record 2020.1.0 b7015

This defect occurs due to an incorrect resource being deleted from the search index. Subsequent FHIR Resource requests against the FHIR Repository may return incomplete results due to that missing index. Any type of FHIR resource data can be lost, and depending on when the defect occurs, the same FHIR request could return different result sets.

InterSystems Official Pete Greskoff · Jun 4, 2020

InterSystems has corrected a defect that can cause FHIR searches to return incomplete results. The defect manifests because a FHIR update interaction deletes an incorrect resource from the search index. Although the data still exists in the repository, subsequent searches may return incomplete results due to the missing entry in that index.

InterSystems has corrected two defects that affect online backup of very large databases. Backups taken via external methods, such as snapshots or direct file copies, are not affected. These defects exist in all released versions of all InterSystems products.

The first defect only affects databases with more than 231 blocks. It results in a degraded database after restoring from an online backup. For example, databases that have a block size of 8 KB (the default) are only affected if they are larger than 16 TB. The correction for this defect is identified as RJF437.

The second defect affects databases that have a block size of 8 KB and that are larger than ~29 TB. With this defect, the online backup fails due to an inaccurate <DATABASE> error; this results in a backup that cannot be restored. The correction for this defect is identified as RJF438. Note that this defect also affects databases that have block sizes smaller than 8 KB.

The corrections for these defects will be included in all future product releases. They are also available by requesting an Ad hoc distribution from the WRC.
