Question Bernard Badger · Jan 28, 2019

When I  open a BPL, or DTL class in Atelier it attempts to open a graphical editor using Internet explorer.

Even though I have IE 11 installed it is somehow "stuck" in IE 7 emulation mode when invoked from Atelier (Eclipse).

So I get an error message, and cannot use the graphical editor.  This has been true in the Marketplace Atelier 1.3 and also Beta.

I'm running Atelier IDE Beta 1.3.141, on Eclipse Javascript 2018-12-R.

Two questions:

Why cannot the editor work with IE7 anyway?

How can I get Atelier to invoke IE with the right options?

Why isn't there a tag for "Atelier 1.3 beta"?

Hi,

I've been going through the instructions at https://download.intersystems.com/download/atelier.csp

Our development team are on the main hospital infrastructure so we need to whitelist any plugin repositories that Eclipse will need to get updates from.

I believe I need to whitelist the sites that host the both the Atelier and Eclipse plugin repositories:

1. Atelier repositories: stable and beta are currently hosted at https://atelier.artifactoryonline.com/
but that site has 'Deprecation of artifactoryonline.com domain' notice.

Announcement Michelle Stolwyk · Jan 17, 2019

The Atelier update site domain has changed from artifactoryonline.com to jfrog.io. JFrog Artifactory Cloud has deprecated the artifactoryonline.com domain in favor of jfrog.io. See their announcement for more details.

We've made these changes available from the beta channel for your convenience. Simply get latest updates from https://atelier.jfrog.io/atelier/updates/beta/latest/ and the deprecated URLs should be replaced with active ones.

These changes will be included in the upcoming stable update this Spring 2019 as well.

Article Michelle Stolwyk · Jan 2, 2019 10m read

One of the many benefits of using Atelier for your ObjectScript development is its integration with a wide range of source control systems. This integration enables you to use modern development workflows which increase collaboration while minimizing the risk inherent to volatile code bases.

Veteran ObjectScript developers can tell you about the workarounds that were needed before they could use source control systems with products like Caché and Ensemble. One of these was to treat the data store itself effectively as a code repository. And so shared development environments became essential for many of our customers to be productive and successful.

For code shops that rely on shared development environments, adopting Atelier might seem too complicated. This article aims to provide a practical example to guide your team towards success with Atelier.

You can find an overview of the problems and solutions in this article here, which is a good place to start. This article assumes that you are familiar with the concepts introduced there.

The goal of this article is to give users of InterSystems products background on source control in general, and how it can be used with Atelier, an Eclipse plugin. Specifically, I'll be discussing what to do when all of your developers share a single dev instance of an InterSystems product where they can edit and compile code. For more information about the implementation details, and sample workflow, see Michelle Stolwyk's DC post giving a Perforce example. Once you have a better understanding of the concepts and have some ideas of how you might want to implement this on your own system, we

Hello experts,

I am new to IRIS and I was told I could get a great hands-on experince with the commuity edition that is currently availabe on mutliple cloud providers.

Unfortunately connecting Atelier to the given IRIS instance has been unsuccessful:

Accorording to this troubleshooting guide

- A single-user license is not sufficient to run Atelier.

According to my License Key:

   License Type=Single Concurrent User

And my license use is at 100%:

How am I supposed to connect and test IRIS if the Communty Edition does not provide a suffiscient license?

Am I missinng somehitng else?

Thanks,

Evgeni

I have just imported our Ensemble project (not a really big one, like two man-years) into my MacBook Air  Ensemble 2016.3 instance to test many things (document model, etc.), Atelier among the others.

The "Production view" is not here, and I miss it.

The opening of Diagram Editor for BP is pretty hidden. I would even like having a switch, which would default to the Diagram Editor.

Anytime I click on the Open Diagram Editor, it waits for a while, ten produces an error and only then I can see the diagram.

The error says: Your Studio browser is no longer valid... etc.

Is anyone in the fine community of developers who work with ISC technologies looking at Microsoft's Visual Studio Code offering?

One of Bill McCormick's recent posts about Atelier referred to Visual Studio being considered the best IDE. Granted, Code is far less of a tool than VS, and probably always will be. But it claims to be open source and cross-platform, i.e. Linux and OS X as well as Windows.

I'm not 100% sure my post belongs in the Atelier group, but didn't see any other group that would be a better home.  Might we benefit from a "Tools" group?

I have previously setup an Atelier project and it was running. I recently received the 1.3 release. Now, I am unable to click on the previously established connection to my Cache server (as seen in the Serve Explorer. I see the connection and the little arrow (implying that there is a hierarchy of items underneath). But, clicking that arrow opens nothing. Ultimately, I was trying to access files on the server so that I could add some new ones to my existing Atelier Project.

The Atelier 1.3 stable release update site (https://atelier.artifactoryonline.com/atelier/updates/stable/1.3/) has been updated to 1.3.117.

For the best upgrade experience, InterSystems suggests that you install Eclipse Photon fresh before installing Atelier 1.3.

New Features

  • Photon support - Install Atelier in Eclipse Photon and benefit from the fixes and enhancements in this new release!
  • YAML support introduced - Xdata blocks with YAML code is colored in black with no syntax error markers

Question Roger de Coninck · Sep 26, 2018

Hello,

Atelier 1.2 as well 1.3 throws java.lang.NullPointerException when opening a class file.

Never mind how to open the class file,  1) witin project explorer 2) atelier explorer 3) open resources  4) switcing between tabs (open files) etc..., I get these errors every time.

Never seen this problem in Atelier 1.1.

Do I miss something within the Eclipse environment?

Does anyone has the same problem?

Best Regards,

Roger de Coninck.

Question Rosti Zacharias · Sep 23, 2018

Hi,

Interested in testing the Eclipse / Atelier on my Mac with 10.13.6 High Sierra, I installed both and had a go at connecting to my Cache Server. It offers Address & Port and login ID and Password.

No matter what I gave it, it cannot connect, saying Server not found.

The Server is a virtual Server running Windows 12 Server on a dedicated IP address, to which I can connect correctly using Remote Desktop, I can Ping  the IP so all looks good, except Eclipse cannot find it.

Any hints would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Rosti.

Question Rich Taylor · May 23, 2017

I am having trouble finding/using the ability to refactor inherited elements from super classes.  In studio this was under the Class->Refactor->override menu.  I did note a 'refactor' option on the right click menu, but if you attempt to choose it the option greys out as soon as you get the mouse pointer over it.  Does this feature exist in Atelier as of yet?

Question Mike Henderson · Apr 17, 2016

In Atelier is there a way to configure automatic indent when typing open/close braces?  From what I've found this is usually left to the language (e.g. Java > Editors) but I couldn't find a setting under the Atelier preferences.

For reference, this is what Studio does:

And here is Atelier:

Notice the return after the open-brace doesn't indent and the close-brace doesn't unindent.

Question Jenna Makin · Dec 15, 2017

Hi-

I have Atelier client installed on a Mac and every now and then it just stops working.  Currently I am getting this error when I try to synchronize my workspace with the server.

Synchronization failed: [server is broken] java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: Provider org.glassfish.jersey.internal.RuntimeDelegateImpl could not be instantiated: java.lang.IllegalStateException: No generator was provided and there is no default generator registered

Is anyone else experiencing similar problems and if so, what is the work around?

Question heng a · Aug 7, 2018

Hello,every body.

I am having a problem when using atelier. I found that the web front-end related files (such as csp, css, js, etc.) will change in format when they are synced to the server.

For example:

The original format of the js file may be UTF-8. However, when I edited and saved in atelier, the file version format on the server became ANSI. I tried to configure the environment in eclipse, but it doesn't seem to work.

E.g:

Because the file contains Chinese characters, this has a significant impact on the actual use.

So, what should I do to solve this problem. Thank you in advance.

Hi, every time I launch Atelier for the first time after my PC boot, it reports an error when trying to connect to a server.

Restarting Eclipse solves the issue and it no more manifests until next PC reboot.

Does anyone know how to avoid this issue? I run Windows 10, Java JRE 8

Question Scott Underwood · Mar 31, 2017

Is there a way to graphically edit BPL processes, or do we still need to use Studio for doing that?

Looking at the documentation, it appear there should be an Atelier BPL editor option available under Open With, but all I have is Atelier Class, HTML, INT, and MAC editors.

There is a BPL editor in the list, but it throws a "Bad editor input" error when trying to open the class file.

I'm running version 1.0.263 that was installed from the WRC distribution of 1.0.262 and then updated.  The only other plugins installed are the Eclipse XML Editors.

Question Abbad Minhas · Jul 9, 2018

We have started playing around with Atelier, primarily to enable us to commit our existing Ensemble code within source control (GIT).

It seems Atelier works well with classes and routines however is unable to directly export lookup tables and HL7 schemas. Can someone confirm/validate this is the case? if so, when will this functionality be made available as it's absence is a deal breaker for us?
